Notes
The non-hardened blank tip (134.753) can be ground and shaped to any custom profile. Once shaped, the tip can be hardened and tempered using the following factory process:
- Hardening: Hold the tip by the threaded section with tweezers. Heat the working end with a blowlamp to approximately 820 °C (light cherry red), then quench tip-first into an oil bath.
- Clean: Remove oil residue with fine abrasive paper, avoiding contact with the shaped point.
- Tempering: Pass the piece from back to front over the blowlamp to approximately 130 °C, ensuring the color does not change, then quench in oil. If the tip loses its edge quickly after use, repeat the full process from the hardening step.
